Frederick (Rick) Carrier live at The Moth.

Frederick Carrier telling his story live at The Moth Radio hour in Boston, Oct. 16, 2014 at The Wilbur Theater. Rick discovered the Buchenwald prisoner camps in 1945 when he was 20 years old and helped to liberate the camp the next day, including 750 orphaned boys!
He's an incredible man, and a gifted storyteller.
When his story goes live on the The Moth's site, I'll post it, too.

Today's Apples and Oranges.

I've been doing still life's in my kitchen lately with my iPhone and my favorite Hipstamatic ap. I find it very relaxing and absorbing. The light in my kitchen is wonderful.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy VD to all of the lovers in the world. By that I mean if  you love anything at all, embrace your love today.
This heart was spotted on the sidewalk by someone I was walking with after a tremendous snowfall this weekend. It was just sitting there, waiting for a photograph. There was no styling involved, just my iPhone and my favorite ap, Hipstamatic, which shoots square. I shot square for years when I shot film, with medium-format cameras, my last being a Hassleblad. I love square images. Here's to love!

Jet Trails.

This is something I love to photograph, whenever I happen to see it at the right time, in the right light.

Pregnancy Done Beautifully!

Here's a lovely photograph from a pregnancy session. This was one of the last pictures I took during the session, and I love it.  The baby is a healthy girl, btw!

Rabia + Dan's Engagement pictures

I'll be photographing Rabia and Dan's wedding this Friday at the Norton Country Club. Rabia and Dan are an energetic, fun and smart couple: all things I appreciate. I'm really looking forward to being there for them and creating images from my heart of the love I see between them.

Tracy + Randy's Wedding Album

I  photographed Tracy and Randy's wedding and reception at Habitat, in Belmont, MA, in June of 2005. Juneteenth, to be exact, which is June 19th (a nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States)
Tracy and Randy are both busy filmmakers (see The Film Posse), and are usually working on lengthy projects, so it took awhile for them to finalize choices for their wedding album, which is not unusual, by the way.
But, they now have their wedding album, which I'm very happy about. I think having a one-of-a-kind book documenting the beginning of a couple's married life together is a celebration of that beginning, and as time passes, becomes an invaluable memento.

Full Moon, Huron Village

Photographing at night is compelling, especially when there is a full moon.

Intercontinental Hotel, Jan. 14, 2012

I love shooting events. They are so much fun. The DJ's at this party at the Intercontinental Hotel in Boston, John Zucco and his un-named cohort (in last picture), were particularly "on it" that evening.

Cy Twombley at Gagosian Gallery in Dec. 2007

This image is 3. 5 years old, and I still like it. I took it at a gallery as a security guard came over to stop me. Sorry about the logo, but I'm sure you understand why it's there.

Science + Magic

I love playing around photographically, using lighting rules I know, but letting chance and spontaneity share the bill. That's the science + magic component, one of the aspects of photographing that makes it ultimately satisfying for me, and continues to fuel my passion, too. Thanks to Cori-Lynne Forbes, my model (+ photographer of me, too, for her class assignment).

Head shots of some Team Northrup members + founders, too.

Here are a variety of head shots I created of members of Team Northrup. I get great pleasure seeing these float by on Facebook, or used on web sites, etc. I'll be available in Freeport, Maine, to make more of these during the next retreat.

Modern Goddesses

This is a project I am just beginning, on finding the goddess in every woman, which is inspired by a workshop I'm participating in.

Sarah Hodge

I recently did a bridal shoot. Sarah Hodge of Maggie, Inc. in Boston, was our model. Tia Maria did her beautiful hair and make-up, and Terri Mahn provided the gorgeous dresses and accessories.  I loved the patterned shoes that Terri came up with, AND the fur cuffs on this amazing dress, designed by  Denise Hajjar. Denise Hajjar is having a spring fashion show on Wed. March 25 from 5:30 to 8:30 at the Fairmont Copley Boston Hotel to benefit the ALS Assoc. (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
